Profile

Will Vaughan is a Principal Consultant with CEA Environmental, an SME consultancy established in 2017 specialising in supporting renewable and nuclear energy projects.

He has twenty years’ experience across the nuclear industry, from regulating at the Environment Agency and the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) to operational roles at a nuclear enrichment site and HSE leadership roles in decommissioning and radioactive waste management as well as nuclear new build projects.

Current and previous projects include:

  • Technical support to a range of clients in terms of radioactive waste management, asbestos, sustainability and project management of environmental technical work in the offshore renewables and nuclear sectors.
  • Consulting work for Nuclear Waste Services leading on management systems to support the UK’s Geological Disposal Facility programme and for Sellafield on radioactivity montioring in the environment.
  • Nuclear Liabilites inspector with ONR, undertaking specialist site-based inspections of Magnox and Dounreay and undertaking specialist regulatory assessment of radioactive waste management safety assessments of GDA submissions.
  • Senior Safety, Health, Safety and Environment Manager for the construction of the Bradwell B station and previously Head of Safety, Health, Environment and Quality at URENCO Nuclear Services, a specialist division of URENCO providing decommissioning and radioactive waste management services to the group and wider industry.
  • Technical consulting and advice on conventional and radioative waste management in support of the UK-EPR GDA, hazardous waste management and landfills.
  • Development of training materials and delivery of training and intervention programmes on various radioactive waste management and the nuclear industry.

In addition to his professional role, Will extends his safety management skills to help SHARE, a local homeless shelter organisation and the annual Chester Regatta on the River Dee.
