Mr. Solomon Odera, is the Interim Head of the Sugar Directorate (formerly known as Kenya Sugar Board). He holds a BSc. Business Administration, major in Accounting & Financial Management from the United States International University (USIU), Kenya. Solomon was employed by the Kenya Sugar Board (KSB) in the year 2002 as the Sugar Development Fund Portfolio Manager. This was a revolving fund which was put in place to cater for Sugar Research matters, KSB administration, Sugar cane development, Infrastructure and Factory Rehabilitation. He worked in that capacity for eleven (11) years. He was appointed the Interim Head of Pyrethrum and other Industrial crops Directorate in 2013 when the Agriculture and Food Authority was established. In August 2016, Solomon was brought back to the Sugar Directorate as the Interim Head. Solomon has a wide experience in the Sugar Industry. During his tenure as the Sugar Development Fund Porfolio Manager, the sugar sector’s, financial components which included farmers’ loans, cane development loans, factory rehabilitation loans and infrastructure all passed through his hands as the Head of the Sugar Development Fund at that time. He is now heading the Directorate which is charged with the mandate of developing, regulating and promoting the entire Sugar Industry in Kenya.
