Martijn Smit has 26 yrs of work experience of which 22 in the energy industry. He started in the Dutch gas midstream industry in 2002, worked downstream gas marketing for Norsk Hydro and has been in Equinor since 2008. Martijn left natural gas business in 2012 and worked ~10 years in upstream business development in Sub Sahara Africa and he was country manager for Equinor in The Netherlands, South Africa and Suriname before returning to the downstream markets in 2021. In 2022 he joined the Northern Lights project as commercial director. Following his three years rotation he is now responsible VP in Low Carbon solutions for commercialization and policy asks related to CCS, Hydrogen and Ammonia. Martijn is Dutch, married and has three children. He holds a Msc in Geology and Management.
